High Intensity Marshalling Wands |

|
Also available with: Infra-Red emission only filters. Anti-glare Green Filters for use with NVG Light Intensifying Systems. Until now, aircraft have been marshalled on the apron using conventional torches with yellow polythene extensions to simulate a longer light beam. These emit a low intensity light, which, when used on a modern airport apron with good quality high intensity sodium lighting are proving to be inadequate. In situations of poor visibility i.e. mist, drizzle, heavy rain and snow etc., it has become a common practice to send a "follow me" vehicle to an aircraft to lead it onto a stand because the air crew have been unable to locate the marshaller. High intensity wands will help aircrew find his allocated stand on the apron more easily and will also assist in avoiding the risk of misinterpretation of signals he is being given and in that respect can be considered an improvement in flight safety. As apron lighting continues to improve so the need for a high intensity signalling system will continue to increase. As a result of this, the High Intensity Marshalling Wand has been developed for marshalling aircraft. The new improved wand has been designed and built using a rechargeable 12 volt battery and an 8 Watt fluorescent tube. This produces a much higher intensity light which can be clearly seen against the ambient airfield lighting. There have been favourable responses to the new light sticks from the Civil Aviation Authority, Air Traffic Controllers, and commercial air-crew who use the airport frequently. The High Intensity Marshalling Wand has been designed to meet the stringent standards specification BS 5501 part 1 and part 7. Complying with this standard means that the wand can be used in potentially explosive atmospheres and is intrinsically safe. The High Intensity Marshalling Wands are now in use at many airports with glowing references from many Pilots and Ground Controllers as to their effectiveness. |
The S.E.A.L. Wand is a rechargeable, multi intensity, marshalling
wand.
With a range of lens sleeves available, including covert lenses, the S.E.A.L. Wand can be used for road traffic, aircraft and military marshalling. The S.E.A.L. Wand may be charged using plug top or vehicle cigar lighter socket (optional). The mains charger allows up to two S.E.A.L. Wands to be charged simultaneously. Full charge, from empty, is achieved in 2.5 hrs. A carrying case is also available to store a pair of wands, charger and up to 6 lens sleeves. Various types of lenses are available for the S.E.A.L. Wand, including: Orange, Red , Clear, Blue, NVG, IR, Custom Colours Available On Request Tables 4 & 5 show the relevant specifications regarding dimensions, battery life and intensity, relating to the S.E.A.L. Wand. The Rechargeable Marshalling Wand is currently used by all major airports in the UK. It is approximately 40 times brighter than a standard battery operated wand and is particularly appropriate where the backlight from a terminal building makes the battery operated less visible to incoming aircraft. Product should be serviced annually to maximise its working life expectancy, >10 years with normal use. The Units are easily maintainable – Baynot fit sheaths and lamp replacement. TECHNICAL DETAILS. Weight: 0.5Kg Length: 430mm, Width: 115mm Operating Voltage: 12 DC Rechargeable within 2.5 hours
"I was very favourably impressed with the brightness and visibility of the new marshalling wands used this evening at Belfast. They stood out in dusk conditions much better than any others I have seen. I look forward to seeing them adopted elsewhere." T. Griffiths Captain British Airways

| INTRINSICALLY SAFE INSPECTION LIGHT
This product is a derivative of the Marshalling wands, and can be used to inspect in areas where combustion gases are a hazard. The sealed fluorescent light and electronics eliminate any chance of arcing, which would cause vapours or gases to be ignited. |
